Incuboater: free legal advice on Amsterdam's canals
The Incuboater is an annual event where we invite startups and NGOs to board our boat to provide them with free legal advice. This advice is given by experienced lawyers and law students from our network.
Goals
Incuboater's goals are:
Providing startups and NGOs with a societal mission with free legal advice.
From the Incuboater, we work together with legal aid centres and lawyers from (Zuidas) offices. This interaction is important to us.
Mapping what legal issues currently exist.
Activities
For many start-ups, the cost of hiring a lawyer is still far too high. This too often results in unfair contracts being entered into and incorrect legal follow-up steps being taken.
At the Amsterdam Law Hub, we overwhelmingly see the impact our legal aid centres have on Amsterdam society, as they provide citizens with much easier access to the law. This, combined with a great drive to support entrepreneurs through our own incubater programme, make us convinced that this service is also relevant for startups and NGOs.
Impact numbers
Three successful events have now been completed.
77 startups/NGOs provided with free legal advice.
Collaborated with more than 70 lawyers and legal advisers.
