Innovation in law; that is what we stand for at the Amsterdam Law Hub and why we like to talk about this matter in our podcast series with innovators from inside and outside the legal sector. In our latest series on women's rights, we talk to three women about the current situation of women in the Netherlands, what they are up against in the legal field and whether they indeed enjoy the same rights as men.
Who better to talk to than a women's rights organisation that has been fighting for over 35 years for gender equality and a better social and legal position of women in the Netherlands? Exactly, we are of course speaking about Bureau Clara Wichmann. Reason enough to kick off with this organisation's legal expert, Sarah Jeddaoui, and dive deeper into this matter. You can hear more about this in the first episode. Disclaimer: the podcast is in Dutch!
In September we opened the doors of the very first women's legal advice centre in Amsterdam. In the run-up to this opening, we talked to legal advisor Gabriëlle Haas, from the Women's Legal Advice Centre in Nijmegen. Not only did she give us an insight into one of the first women's legal aid shops in the Netherlands, she also provided us with tips on how to assist women in Amsterdam.
For the third and final episode of this series, we talked to Judith Stevens of Stem op een vrouw. An organisation that regularly made headlines during the last elections and has more than earned its place in politics and our society. We talked to Judith about their political future plans and more women in politics in The Hague.
