The first part of the event consisted of a digital programme full of interesting panel sessions about subsidies in the legal tech industry, innovation and the specific situation within Amsterdam in this sector.

The second part of the day was a hybrid programme in which our students from the Justice Entrepreneurship master's course pitched their business ideas in teams, followed by interesting lectures from Koen Aarns of Bluetick and Jelle Dott of ARAG on how legal tech is part of their organizations.
Award ceremony
Finally, the jury, consisting of Krijn de Jonge (Council for Legal Aid), Farshida Zafar (Erasmus University), Joel Dori (Start-up Amsterdam), selected the three most innovative ideas, which were awarded a prize.
The concept that won the title Justice Entrepreneurs of 2021 was Legal Crowd: A crowd funding platform for legal cases - think GoFundMe for lawsuits (like the recent case against Shell for failing to meet climate change targets).
The number two was EasyFiscaal. They aim to make the complex Dutch benefit system simpler through infographics. EasyFiscaal offers online and offline versions of their infographics which guide users through which benefits they are eligible for, how to apply, and what to do if your situation changes.
In third place was Tenlaw: a platform to support tenants understand their legal position in a fast, easy and cheap way. Offers downloadable standard letters and explanations of your legal position for contract or deposit problems. Also offers bespoke legal advice for more complex rental issues for a set fee.
