Working with real clients with real problems allows law students to begin the lifelong process of becoming thoughtful, responsible and reflective lawyers. The Amsterdam Law Clinics offer students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience while increasing their knowledge of the law and sharpening their legal skills.
By taking part in the Clinic, you will be making a contribution to the application, development and innovation of the law, as well as to promoting a more just society. During a semester, students will work on real cases for real clients. The cases cover a wide range of legal areas but all seek to serve the public interest. Our clients range from law firms to NGO's, and from (local) government departments to international governmental organizations. We generally work on cases that involve larger legal and societal problems.
A course like the Amsterdam Law Clinic should be mandatory, because it is a very different way of approaching the legal material and to gain legal experience.
